Dear Palm Valley Community,
As some of you may be aware, California Senator Richard Pan recently shelved legislation that would have required students to be vaccinated against COVID 19 for the upcoming school year. The CDPH quickly followed suit and declared that they will delay any student vaccine mandate to July 2023 at the earliest. So, it is clear that there will not be a student vaccine mandate and Palm Valley will not be requiring student COVID vaccinations for the upcoming 2022 – 2023 school year.
I want to thank the many participants in our recent Parent Satisfaction Survey. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and for attending the board’s presentation on the common themes gleaned from the survey last Tuesday evening. Your perspectives will help us to shape future programmatic offerings and school policies.
This week is a very special and important week as it is Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Please take a moment to share your gratefulness to our Palm Valley teachers and staff. It has been a very unique and challenging couple of years as we have asked our teachers to first teach remotely, then both remotely and in person at the same time. Our teachers and staff have worked hard to maintain your child’s education and growth amidst the pandemic. We want to thank our wonderful Parent Association in advance for the support this week, including the appreciation dinner this Friday night! We are all excited about this magical evening at Lulu’s!
This week also begins a variety of standardized testing taking place across our campus. Beginning with Advanced Placement exams in the high school, WRAP exams in the lower school, and culminating with more AP, CTP/WrAP exams next week, our students will be taking multiple exams over the next two weeks that will serve to assess their academic progress. You can partner with us and best support your child’s success by ensuring that they get adequate rest, healthy meals, and arrive to school on time each day.
One final reminder that next week, our middle and high school students are presenting the High School Musical in the MPR on May 10th – 13th at 4 pm. Please call the school to reserve your seat for these exciting theatrical performances!
Warmly,
Dr. Steven Sherman
Head of School
