The holiday season is a perfect time to reflect on our blessings
and seek out ways to make life better for those around us.

Dear Lower School Families,

I hope everyone is adjusting well as we transition back to school after Thanksgiving Break. In just three short weeks, we will begin our Winter Break; the year seems to have flown by! On behalf of CV Foster Kids, I would like to thank you for the generous donations of books, hygiene items, stuffed animals, and small suitcases. The generosity of our families never ceases to amaze me.

The last Parent Association Meeting for 2021 will be held on Tuesday, December 7th at 9:00am. Join the virtual meeting by selecting the link below.

On Friday, December 10th, students can participate in a Meet and Greet with Santa. There is a $20 fee and students will receive a digital photo to commemorate the occasion. You can either pay and sign up through Eventbrite by clicking here, or you can bring cash or check to the LS office.

The Spirit Store has a lot of new stock in all sizes. For your convenience, there will be monthly pop-up stores before school. Our Spirit Store is open every Thursday from 7:30 – 9:00 am, and you can email them: spiritstore@pvs.org Please consider donating gently used uniforms, particularly in the smallest and largest sizes, and polo shirts in all sizes.

The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is of the utmost importance. If a student has a cough, headache, runny nose, sore throat or fever, we will send them home unless they have a doctor’s note stating they may stay at school. Students sent home cannot return until they have been symptom-free for 24 hours, without the aid of fever reducing medication.

The week of December 13th – 17th will be a bit different. All students will gather in the LS amphitheater each morning, and will learn about one of the four holidays that are celebrated at this time of year; Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa.

We invite students to participate in our very own LS Spirit Week:

Monday, December 13th: wear Holiday Colors
Tuesday, December 14th: Crazy Pattern Day (wear a mix of crazy patterns)
Wednesday, December 15th: Fun Sweater Day (regular uniform bottoms, please.)
Thursday, December 16th: Tacky Tourist Day
Friday, December 17th: Pajama Day
If students do not want to participate, they must wear the regular uniform. For safety, athletic shoes only.

Every year, Palm Valley students enter the annual Holiday Banner Art contest. Over 600 Palm Springs area students from Kindergarten to 12th grade have submitted original drawings. Fifty pieces were selected, and NINE PVS students were among the winners. Congratulations to:

Silvanita Garcia: 4th Grade, Steven Liu: 5th Grade, Scarlett Otteson: 5th Grade, Paris Silva: 5th Grade, Rylie Conway: 7th Grade, Cierra Carr: 8th Grade, Lily Jones: 9th Grade, Harliana Otto: 11th Grade, and Hanqui Zhong: 12th Grade. The banners can be seen on Palm Canyon Drive in a few weeks.
